How to Close 2025 with Perspective and Confidence
“Are you okay?” is a personal question.
When it comes to money, the answer is always specific to you. It is not the FI number some FIRE group suggested or some number someone else said worked for them.
Many people struggle to know whether they’re financially okay because financial advice is everywhere and much of it contradicts itself (because it’s given by people who want views, or want to impress you not by someone who is looking at your personal circumstances). Social media amplifies confident voices selling single strategies, making it easy to feel behind or unsure.
Let’s reset the perspective.
The final week of the year often brings reflection and tension. Did you meet your 2025 goals? Miss them? How do you plan for 2026 with market volatility and job uncertainty?
What most people are really wrestling with is comparison. Everyone around takes more and better trips, buys better cars leaving you feeling behind.. Many times we find out that those people you are comparing yourself to were not being truthful about their situations. They were in lots of debt, or had some financial windfall they aren’t disclosing.
Earlier in life, progress was tangible. You upgraded your car. You bought a washer and dryer. Each step felt obvious. After 45, progress becomes quieter—401(k) balances grow, savings stabilizes, and the milestones are less visible.
But forward motion hasn’t stopped.
Now is the time to pause and acknowledge what you’ve built. You saved. You invested consistently. You followed advice that mattered. These choices kept you on the right track and they still matter.
There is no shortcut that replaces consistency over the next decade (or decades). Staying the course is the smartest move.
This is where a financial plan becomes essential. A strong plan reflects your real life. Who is depending on your income now and in retirement? Is that factored into your plan? Who are you checking in with? Accountability is important to your continued success.
If you want support creating or sticking to a plan that centers your life and values, we’re here. And for those who prefer to do it themselves, we’ve included a Budget Outline you can use or share.
Here’s to closing 2025 with clarity and entering 2026 with steady confidence.
Every step forward counts.
